Andrew is originally from Illinois, having moved out West after high school. He has worked as an ER Technician and Pro Patroller since 2014 at Keystone Resort (Dillon, Colorado) and most recently Alpental (Washington State), and he holds an EMT Basic and Level 1 Avalanche certifications. He is currently Chief Operations Officer for an occupational health company, and a pro patroller at Mt Bachelor. He and his wife live in Bend and enjoy mountain biking, climbing, and time on or near water in the summer months. Andrew is passionate about building infrastructure that improves the health and well-being of the public and looks forward to bringing that enthusiasm to the COAC.
Anthony has spent his life in the outdoor industry, from guiding mountain biking, rock climbing, and winter adventures to leveraging technology to enhance customer experiences in outdoor retail. Anthony has his AIARE Level II, AMGA SPI, and WFR certifications. Joining the board of the Central Oregon Avalanche Center isn't just a new challenge for me; it's a chance to give back to the backcountry community that's given me so much. Avalanche centers are the unsung heroes of our winter playgrounds, and I'm stoked to help increase avalanche awareness in Central Oregon.
Bryce is a native Oregonian, enthusiastic backcountry skier, and forest ecologist. Since moving to Bend in 2016 and getting his AIARE level 1 certification, He has enjoyed exploring widely on skis from remote backcountry lines to Pilot Butte. Bryce is excited to help COAC build an educated, safe, and inclusive backcountry community in Central Oregon.
Dan grew up as a nomad moving every ~3 years and learned to ski outside of Seattle at Snoqualmie at age 8. And after a few moves away from snow, he was “lucky” enough to finish up his last 2 years of high school in New Jersey where he raced on the school ski team at Vernon Valley (summer home of the most dangerous amusement park in the country - Class Action Park). His first backcountry experience was during college in New Hampshire at Tuckerman’s Ravine and he has continued to pursue adventures deeper in the backcountry ever since completing AIARE Level 1 Certification in 2006. After 25 years in software technology, Dan is now a full time ski and mountain bike enthusiast chasing adventure and deep snow. He is excited to join the COAC board to help grow the community and promote safe recreation in the snow.
Born and raised in Bend, Oregon, Donald developed a deep appreciation for the outdoors early in life. Surrounded by the beauty of the Cascades, he's embraced various outdoor hobbies, from skiing and motorcycling to hunting. But nothing quite compares to the thrill of snow biking, his favorite activity. Whether carving through powder in winter or exploring rugged trails, the backcountry is his playground, and he is grateful to call this natural wonderland home. In Donald's professional life, he is a CPA with a passion for supporting the open and safe use of Oregon’s wilderness. Advocating for responsible access to these pristine areas is important to him, as it ensures others can experience and enjoy the incredible landscapes that have shaped who he is. Balancing his work with his love for the outdoors keeps him connected to both his community and the natural beauty of his surroundings.
Emily had skiing shift her life trajectory in 2015 and hasn't looked back. Originally from the quiet central coast of California, Emily has spent her adult years exploring mountains all over the west. She is a graphic designer with marketing experience, and has a background in adaptive sports and non-profit education orgs. Emily holds her AIARE 2 certification, Wilderness First Responder, and is a professional ski patroller at Mount Bachelor. Find her in the garden, traveling by bicycle, or chasing surf in the summer. She is enthused to give back to the backcountry community of Central Oregon through the work of COAC!
Jereme grew up exploring the peaks of the Chugach range near Anchorage, Alaska by all means necessary. Within weeks of relocating to Bend in 2015, he set a fast time on the South Sister climb that he would be trying to beat ever since. A deeper connection to the Central Oregon backcountry and the community began with completing his AIARE 1 course with Three Sisters Backcountry. When he isn’t spending time with family or working on his outdoor technology company, OuterSpatial, he is probably scheming up an irrationally long distance running adventure or ski tour.
Kevin was on the COAC board for close to a decade before stepping aside to co-chair ISSW held in Bend in 2023. Kevin helped out with BendSAW in 2025 and rejoined the board in May, 2026. He is an engineering, physics and avalanche instructor at Central Oregon Community College and has given talks at SAW's in Bend, Utah, Wyoming, and Washington. He was the keynote speaker at the Jackson Hole Avalanche Awareness night in 2025 and enjoys all the Bend outdoor things with his wife and two daughters.
Mark made his way west from Maryland, with an extended stay in Colorado on the way out. He’s terrible at skiing deep powder but loves suffering uphill and exploring the mountains with new friends. He’s stoked about avalanche education and has completed avalanche training in Colorado, California, Oregon, and Washington, including AIARE 1 and 2 certifications. Mark is excited to help COAC continue building a strong local community of prepared and informed backcountry enthusiasts.
Shane grew up skiing in Maine and quickly found his way west where he discovered the joy of sharing a skin track with friends. He and his wife have been visiting family in Bend since 2006 and finally made the trip permanent by relocating in 2016. He has completed his AIARE Level 1 and 2 certifications and enjoys learning about the snowpack almost as much as skiing itself. Given his day job in Saas sales, he relishes any excuse to get outside, but his real passion is sliding on snow, digging a pit, and sharing some snacks and backcountry lines with friends and family throughout the PNW.
