Central Oregon Avalanche Center is Hosting the 26th Powderhound Preview and Fundraiser

The Central Oregon Avalanche Center (COAC) is excited to announce that it is taking over stewardship of the beloved winter film event, Powderhound Preview and Fundraiser. This community-driven movie night, which showcases locally produced films featuring Central Oregonians enjoying winter recreation, will now benefit COAC’s mission of education and outreach.

For 25 years, Powderhound Preview has brought together skiers, snowboarders, and winter adventurers to celebrate the spirit of the season. Originally hosted by Pine Mountain Sports, the event has grown into a signature gathering for Bend’s outdoor community. COAC will now carry the torch to ensure the tradition continues and thrives for years to come.

“We’re honored to take on an event that’s become such a vibrant part of Bend’s winter culture,” said Bryce Kellogg, President of the Central Oregon Avalanche Center. “This year, we felt it was important to continue the event’s legacy of community supporting community. Splitting the proceeds with Oregon Adaptive Sports allows us to do just that—support safety and inclusion both on and off the mountain, while preserving the spirit of the event.”

This year’s Powderhound Preview will feature a collection of short films submitted by local riders, skiers, and adventurers, capturing the beauty and excitement of Central Oregon’s winter landscapes. Proceeds from the event will support COAC’s ongoing efforts to provide free daily avalanche forecasts, educational programs, and critical resources for the backcountry community. In an exciting new partnership, COAC will split the raffle proceeds with Oregon Adaptive Sports—continuing the event’s legacy of “community supporting community” while broadening its impact to outdoor inclusion for athletes with disabilities.

“We are incredibly appreciative and thrilled to be included in this event,” said Pat Addabbo, Executive Director of Oregon Adaptive Sports. “This collaboration with COAC helps us further our mission of removing barriers to outdoor recreation for individuals with disabilities, and being part of Powderhound is a wonderful extension of that vision.”
