Observations
A COAC team went to Wed's Paulina Peak slide. Crown profile revealed a very weak persistent layer of facets down 105cm.See compression test video right above the avalanche crown (an East Aspect):

This type of weak layer is persistent and could take some time to heal. It also appears to be unique to Paulina Peak. Despite digging many, many profiles, we have not found this weak layer in the Central Cascade Forecast Area. But that doesn't mean its not out there... doesn't hurt to dig. A full accident report is forthcoming.
Rest in peace Erik. Best wishes to all his friends and family, Jonas
