Weekend Forecasting at Paulina Peak for the 24/25 season!

The Central Oregon Avalanche Center is thrilled to announce we are a recipient of the 2024 Avalanche Alliance Award!

This grant was specifically created for backcountry motorized users by supporting projects serving high-use motorized areas, creating infrastructure to support forecasting, and getting forecasters on the ground.

Through this grant, for the 2024/25 season, COAC will be forecasting on Saturday and Sunday at Paulina Peak as well as providing a midweek observation.

Last season, with the support of this grant, COAC forecasters provided the public with 44 professional observations for the Newberry Caldera/Paulina Peak area. During 12 of those observations, avalanches were observed.
